The Garden, coming to NYC Parks this weekend!

The Garden is a 30 minute interactive, meditative performance for babies and their caregivers exploring themes of nature and life cycles, reconnecting with themselves as a part of nature. This October, we’re presenting our first public sharings, for FREE!

The Garden brings together a team of expert early childhood educators and artists to create this brand-new performance. We feel the rough bark of a branch; we dip our hands into dirt, then feel a gentle stream of water rain down, turning it to mud before rinsing our hands in a dish-sized pond; and while we play, we share a peaceful moment of presence with people at the very beginning of their own life cycle. Together, caregivers and babies experience a poetic meditation on liveness, nature, and growth, engaging with the cycles of the natural world with all five senses.

We have three free opportunities for babies and caregivers to attend this October. Our informal play sessions will take place indoors, and include snippets from the performance and open play with our performers and our nature toys. The performance sharings will take place outdoors in Sunset Park and include a more structured performance and play session in our set.

These are the very first work-in-progress sharings of the play — your presence and feedback are instrumental in developing the show!

COVID-19 Safety: Indoors or outdoors, all adults must be prepared to wear masks and show proof of vaccination for COVID-19. Audience sizes are limited. Indoor play sessions will be socially distanced and families will be free to move around as comfort permits. Performance sharings are outdoors and seating is socially distanced. All performers and staff have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
