Nov 20, 2019 - Workshop with Mummenschanz

I was very lucky this week to participate in a workshop with Floriana Frasetto, “Flo”, one of the founders of Swiss theater group Mummenschanz. The group became popular for its play with bizarre masks and forms, light and shadow, and their subtle choreography, which I was able to experience along with a packed house of school kids at the New Victory that morning. In the workshop, Flo shared some of the history of their work, and then we LabWorks artists from this year and past years got to make masks and play with them under her guidance. I created this animalistic creature mask out of a laundry detergent bottle, a plastic easter egg, and a lot of duct tape.
